• Trauma-informed Service for First Responders, Military & Their Families

WELCOME TO

resilience first

When one person serves, the whole family carries it

Most mental health services built for first responders, military members, and veterans stop at the person in uniform. Resilience First doesn't. We're a Kingston, Ontario trauma therapy practice built around a simple idea: the spouse managing the household alone on night shifts, the kids who've learned to read a parent's mood before breakfast, and the partner absorbing the quiet weight of deployment are all part of the impact — and all deserve part of the care. Whether you're the one who wears the uniform or the one who loves someone who does, this is a place built for your whole family, not just one role in it.

Scheduling that bends. Care that doesn't break

Your roster doesn't run on a 9-to-5, so neither do we. Nights, days, last-minute call-outs, court dates, deployments — we build sessions around your life, not the other way around. The one thing that doesn't flex is the work itself: once trauma care starts, you stick with it, with the same clinician, all the way through. Flexible scheduling. Unwavering commitment.

About us

Dr. Kulsoom Jawaid Malik

I'm proud to have launched Resilience First, a specialized division of J&K Mental Health dedicated to trauma recovery for first responders, military members, veterans, and their families. J&K Mental Health has always offered general multidisciplinary mental health care to the Kingston community — but over the years, I kept seeing the same gap: a population whose experience of shift work, operational stress, chain of command, and a culture that doesn't always make room for asking for help needed something built specifically for them. Resilience First is my answer to that gap
